Angling Report subscriber Eric Overland says he and his son took a few days from a family trip in nearby Tulum to go bonefishing at Pesca Maya. Despite strong winds, changing weather patterns and some turbid water, Overland says they caught quite a few 12- to 16-inch bones and some barracudas both from the boat and by wading.
Overland rates Pesca Maya?s overall service as excellent and says the lodging was fine and the food good, although not fancy. The company of fellow anglers at the lodge made their stay fun.
Overland says they enjoyed the experience enough that they would like to return for a full week with a small group of friends. He says they did not have time to fish for tarpon and permit on this trip, and he would like to try that.
